FAQ

Start without 3D experience.

Read the guide
Do I need 3D experience?

No. The built-in guide walks you through placing figures, moving the camera, and saving your first shot.

Is it free?

Yes. You can explore without an account, and saving, recording, and export need free email registration. Pro ($49 one-time) removes the project and own 3D location limits and adds the video AI exports. See Pricing at the bottom of this page.

Does SHOT OF THE DEAD generate the final AI video?

No. It is a previs tool: you design the shot in 3D, then generate the final anime or photoreal video with an AI video model such as Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3, Kling, or Veo.

Which AI video models can I use it with?

Any image-to-video or reference-to-video model. The AI handoff export is written for Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3 / H3 Max, Kling, and Veo, and includes a first frame, a last frame, a grey clay motion-reference clip, a camera path, and a prompt draft.

What does it export?

A first frame and last frame (PNG), a clay motion-reference clip (WebM), camera-path.json, and a prompt draft for the video model, packaged as one AI handoff ZIP (Pro). On Free, you can export shot images with prompt hints, recorded takes, and the Cut List as one MP4.

Which browsers and computers does it run on?

Google Chrome on macOS and Windows (other Chromium browsers are untested; Safari and Firefox are not supported). Nothing to install: open the URL and start. Location assets are stored in a folder on your own computer, not uploaded.

DEVELOPMENT LOG

Find the shot faster, with more freedom.

We improve the friction we find in real production work, one piece at a time. Here are the latest updates.

  1. Official release on November 1.

SHOT OF THE DEAD becomes an official release on Sunday, November 1. Your beta account, projects, and locations stay as they are.

  2. The keys you can use, at the bottom.

3D, Shoot, and Cut List now show a one-line bar at the bottom with the keys for where the pointer is. On narrow screens it shows what fits. Turn it off under Settings > Controls.

  3. Capsule, a figure with no hands.

Assets now include a Capsule with a nose and ears. Set only Standing, Sitting on a chair, or Sitting on the floor and where the head faces. With no hands, hand actions are free to describe in the video AI prompt.

  4. Space for the camera, X for the actors.

On the shooting tab, Space previews the camera (actors move too) and X previews the actors only, wherever you are in the panel. Either key pauses a running preview, and the point picked follows the key that started it. The buttons show the keys.

  5. The actor panel shows the selected figure.

The shooting tab's actor panel now shows the motion of the figure selected in 3D. A figure with no motion shows an empty panel, so another figure's settings are never changed by mistake.

  6. Shot actions as icons.

Duplicate, preview, Cut List, and download at the top right of SHOTS are now icons, plus a trash icon to delete. The download menu offers Image only or With AI info (zip). Deleting a shot keeps its cut in Cut List.
